Summer Lipsticks

Yay for it being Wednesday! It's movie day with the kiddos today, my favorite. Oh, and I'm shopping the Nords Anniversary pre-sale...perfect day.

The lipsticks above are my must-haves for summer. I love that I will be able to transition a lot of them to the fall as well. Most of these are statement lipsticks, bright and intended to be an "accessory". My two everyday colors are YSL Sheer Candy #9 and MAC's Politely Pink. I am in LOVE with YSL's Sheer Candy line, they're glossy and hydrating with just a hint of color (not to mention they smell amazing) but it pained me to spend $35 on lipstick. I've discovered that drugstore lipstick can be just as lovely! My only recommendation is to keep your reciept in case the color doesn't end up working out.

Layering {Lips}

As much as I love a good red lip, sometimes I need a toned down version. Something that I've absolutely fallen in love with is experimenting with mixing and layering different lipstick colors. Here I dabbed a little bit of MAC's Lady Danger on, spread it with my finger, and then applied YSL's Sheer Candy #9. It created a wonderful pinky red that didn't scream, "look at me!" but was still fun and colorful.

I seriously stand in front of my mirror and pile on lipstick in search of wonderful combos for hours. I live at home during the summer (or when I'm home from school) and my dad has caught me doing this a few times, he jokes that I'm playing dress up (my favorite as a child). Hahaha just have to laugh at that one, cause I kind of am...

Weekend Wear

I lived in popovers and boyfriend jeans/shorts all weekend. Such a comfortable, easy, and instantly cute combo. Wear your favorite sandals during the day, then throw on wedges for an evening out and you're set. I love simple outfits like this, they make my life so much easier :)

Headed home from the pines today (sad), but excited for a BBQ with the fam and a week full of wonderful preparation festivities. Christian's sis is getting married Saturday and I leave for Hawaii with momma and the girls on Sunday, yay!

Needless to say I will be doing some bathing suit shopping (ugh), spray tanning, packing, manicuring, and gift buying. What does everyone have planned for the week ahead?

A Little Daring

My sweet friend Amelia has been taking pictures for me lately. She came over with a new lipstick in hand and insisted that I try it on. As I mentioned before, I'm a little hesitant about lipsticks; but I went for it. I have to be honest, I've kind of fallen for it... So thanks friend, for helping step outside my box :)

Let's Beautify

I tried out the ombre nail trend last night and I'm in love! I used blue tones this time but can't wait to do pinks and oranges in the future. Makes me feel like a mermaid... I guess it's the green/blue ocean tones? Hello Ariel.

Momma took me lipstick shopping last weekend, I've never really worn the stuff since in fear of looking like a clown. I fell in love with MAC's Politely Pink and YSL's Volupte Sheer Candy. Politely Pink is great for everyday, very subtle and neutral. I love the YSL color as a pop of pink that isn't too "bright". It can be layered for a darker color or glazed on for a little color. Definitely hooked on lipstick now, uh oh!
